Come on in and post the best-looking, barely- or not-at-all-liveried concepts or prototype racing cars. Pictured is the Sauber C12 from some year before this one. After the break is another—perhaps the best?—entry. Try and top them, I dare ya.

Lancia ECV2! The one on the right. The ECV1 looks better though

Jaguar XJ220 testbed.
Here's it being chased down the road.
And here it is at Goodwood.

Always liked this one in the buff. Something about that black gold carbon.

McLaren F1 protype XP1. The XP5 is the one you always see in pictures, it was the press prototype, but this XP1 was the first actual "F1" on the road. It's destroyed now, (nothing left, look at the picture!) but was the high-speed test car so they could find out how fast the design would really go.

Not totally nude, but certainly not covered in sponsors. The Honda Earth Dreams F1 car. I always thought it was pretty cool looking...

Great choice. That chase video made it seem like the car was some mysterious government project since it left the motorway so quickly after being "spotted." Very cool.

That's cool and terrifying. It actually illustrates very well what Jeremy Clarkson always says about cars being "Concorde moments." This car and the people who developed it were so far over the edge of what was thought possible and that disintegrated prototype is what happened when the laws of nature tried to bring humans back in line.
Very poignant.

Was gonna post that, too, but I tried to find cars stripped down to bare carbon fiber.

Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype...
I wish they would make a road legal version of this car...

Man, that car does look great, but as a Daytona Prototype it's kind of a useless spec-car. If it could be adapted for a more popular or interesting series, it'd be pretty great.
Also, I agree, the world NEEDS a road-legal version of this car.

Pretty neat. It reminds me of the "crocodile" Audi R8.

Just call it the "Corvette Daytona" and give it the same style interior as found in the new C7, with an option for 5 point harnesses. Then drop a 720 hp GM 572 c.i. Big Block in it, or a boosted ZR1 motor, with the option of the 7 speed manual from the c7, or a 6 speed dual clutch/sequential transmission. Have stereo, air conditioning, and magnetic selective ride control as options.

Ha, it seems you've put a lot of thought into this.

Yup... I've always hoped they'd do a mid-engined Corvette, and being that they adamantly refuse to make one, on occasion, I like to imagine what it could be like if I were in charge of making one. Although if I had full control of the project, and a blank check from GM, I would take the ZR1 motor, and work with the engineers to frankenstein a v12 design out of it, and put that in there... Because POWERRRRR!!!

I've never been a big fan of Grand-Am, and anyone that's read my recent opinion of the merger with Grand-Am and ALMS, it hasn't gotten any better...
But I really like the Brumos-Porsche Fabcar circa 04-06ish... That's a badass looking Daytona Prototype... before those stupid looking cockpits on the newer models.
